The house is located in the mountainous region of the Blenio Valley. Its design language is simple, sourcing from the fundamentals of traditional agricultural buildings to establish a meaningful relationship with both the natural and built environments.
Despite this traditional reference, the house meets the needs of contemporary living by fostering a connection with the landscape that is contemplative rather than productive. On the night floor, large openings direct the gaze toward specific segments of the landscape, while the day floor features glass surfaces that extend from floor to ceiling on all four sides, emphasizing the vivid presence of natural elements.
The layout is rectangular, oriented parallel to the slope, and divided into two ‹naves› by a central wall, which becomes the primary structuring element of the interior spaces. This wall defines the position of the stairs, which extend in two consecutive flights, linking the internal pathways to the natural topography and thus rooting the house within its terrain. The perimeter of the basement establishes the limits of the private space, beyond which the natural landscape remains untouched. Text description by the architects.
