Located in the heart of Milan, the A+I Apartment was born from the intention to respond to the evolving demands of contemporary living, where spaces are constantly changing, along with the specific needs of the dynamic young couple who live there. It also aims to amplify the great spatial potential and features of the apartment, such as its dual exposure and the projection of the spaces towards the outside.

The crucial choice was to reorganize the internal layout, starting with the abolition of traditional corridors—mere passageways without any specific function which characterized houses of the past—in favor of a more rational plan, with well-defined living and sleeping areas, distributed across the two parts of the house, and open, flexible, and adaptable spaces as key elements.

The reorganization of the interior thus consisted of demolishing the walls along the main façade (which previously divided the space into three separate rooms), thereby creating a large open-plan living area with kitchen, central island, dining, and aperitif area, fostering fluidity and multifunctionality.

The sleeping area, located on the opposite side of the apartment, consists of three double bedrooms and a walk-in closet, replacing the previous corridor.

These two distinct areas, living and sleeping, once organized and implemented, are connected and mediated by the presence of an elegant, custom-made piece of furniture crafted from curved oak wood boiseries.

Strategically placed between the two areas and the entrance, this precious element not only facilitates access to the various rooms but also creates diverse spatial scenarios, enhancing the interior landscape.

Thus, this curved wardrobe/threshold, seen by the clients as the heart of the home, is the functional and aesthetic centerpiece meticulously designed in every detail, making a bold design statement that harmonizes the spaces and contributes to a sophisticated and serene atmosphere throughout the apartment.

The general intentions are then consolidated by rigorous yet soft lines and dark tones that envelop the apartment in a welcoming intimacy, while the greenery of the treetops enters through the windows, establishing a strong connection between indoors and outdoors. To meet the dual requests of the young couple, the sober and elegant atmosphere of the envelope serves as a blank canvas for colorful, almost pop-inspired furniture that enriches the spaces, allowing both inhabitants to feel at home in an environment that fully reflects them.
