Loft in Centro Storic

[La Leta Architettura]

The property is located inside a building in the historic center of Palermo, which has been the subject of reconstruction and restoration.

The studio took care of the interior design of the apartment, reorganizing the spaces, intervening in the choice of materials and with tailor-made solutions that redefine the environments, through a dialogue with the existing valuable elements that distinguish the property.

The space of the house is divided into two levels: The ground floor is characterized by the pre-existence of a large pointed portal made of tuff ashlars which divides the large living room.

The living area is double height (more than 6 meters high), while the kitchen space is compressed to a lower height, here the portal frames a large custom-designed island placed in the centre, while behind it a custom-made system covers the walls and the staircase leading to the sleeping area on the upper floor.

Going up the stairs, there are two bedrooms, the first equipped with an "en suite" bathroom, while the second is separated by two small rooms in succession that connect it to the bathroom via the custom-designed walk-in closet.

The pre-existing tuff ashlar arches present on the walls become an opportunity to design suspended wardrobes that interact with the valuable elements.

It was decided to use resin as the main covering material, so that the stone elements could stand out at their best. Changes of solid wood flooring were inserted in the sleeping area, giving greater warmth to the rooms, clearly defining the rooms, recalling the oak tones of the custom-made elements and of the staircase covering.
