Mouzaïa Project

Location: Paris, France
Year: 2024
Architects: Augure Studio
Photography by: Agnès Clotis

Located in The Mouzaïa in Paris, an old workers’ district, this little house is integrated along paved pedestrian paths called Villas. Traversant, it benefits from a garden at the front and a courtyard at the back. The project is to streamline the surfaces of this small house and make each floor crossing. The last floor is completely recreated and the last staircase now comes to superimpose the other two, illuminated and ventilated by a new opening on the courtyard side.

On the ground floor, an oak volume receives the necessary fittings (wardrobe, kitchen) and integrates access to the basement while partitioning the space of the living room and dining room under the glass roof. The thermal renovation is treated on a case-by-case basis: the joinery is replaced except for the entrance door; the insulation is external on the rear facade and on the high terrace, but internal for the historical façade on the garden, because of alignments with neighbors. Text description by the architects.
